​Our History

In 2012 Malex Custom Homes was created by Chad Knowles, named for his brother Marshal Alex who passed away from cancer in 2011. 
Chad worked for one of his best friends dads for a summer, building houses, while taking the business program at RDC. He enjoyed it so much that he stayed on for another five years, finding it very rewarding to see a house through concept to possession. He decided to take the carpentry program at RDC during those five years and received his journeyman ticket. 
After the fire in Slave Lake they spent a year there and rebuilt ten homes.  When they finished there Chad (24 at the time) decided it was time to start his own company. 
He has since married his wife Courtney who loves Interior Design and also enjoys watching the homes come together. They have two beautiful children, a girl and boy. 
With 17 years of experience, Chad strongly believes in quality over quantity and having that mentality has allowed Malex Custom Homes to work with incredible clients that allow him be a part of their unique and exciting projects. He creates a  personal building experience that allows the customer to be involved in the process from start to finish.
